Polyester Insulation

Polyester excels for home insulation in Wellington

Due to our climate in the Wellington area, we need insulation in our homes to keep the heat in and the cold damp air out. A properly insulated home also maintains even temperatures throughout. According to the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), approximately “half of all New Zealand homes (around 700,000) have insufficient ceiling or underfloor insulation, and insulation can move or become less effective over time. The order of priority for insulating your existing home should be: ceiling, underfloor, walls
and windows.”

EECA suggests that you hire a qualified professional insulation company because proper installation is key to maximum effectiveness of the insulation.

Benefits of polyester insulation

Polyester insulation is durable, pre-cut and sold in rolled blankets and segments. This insulation is ideal for installation in the ceiling and underfloor of both existing and new homes. The product is also energy efficient to cut down on your heating bills, contains no harmful substances and much of it comes from recycled plastic.

How much insulation do you need?

Insulation is rated according to thermal resistance, or R-value. The higher the R-value, the more effective the insulation. The R-value criteria includes the type of insulation, the thickness and the density. The amount of insulation needed depends in large part on your climate and the type of heating cooling system you have. Where and how the insulation is installed also determines its effectiveness.
